Welcome to Kid K.A.S.T.
K.A.S.T. (Kids are Special Too) is a kids program that was started in 1996. Its mission is the same today as it was 11 years ago--to share the outdoors with today’s youth while educating them about the dangers of drugs. This was first done by offering full school assemblies throughout the Ozarks. Approximately 10 seminars were done that first year. In 2007 up to 100 seminars will be held throughout the United States.
K.A.S.T. has evolved into one of the countries largest anti-drug programs. Its seminars have always been free of charge, thanks to its many sponsors. School assemblies are geared toward 6th through 8th grade students.
In addition to school assemblies, K.A.S.T. also has several other means to reaching kids with its message. With the help of the sponsors--myself and the Vice-President of K.A.S.T., Steve Boillot, are able to attend many other events—including NASCAR and NHRA races, fairs, fishing tournaments, and much, much more. Our brightly colored vehicles both shock and excite kids and adults alike. We’ve had the opportunity several times throughout the years to drive around the Nascar tracks during the pre-race festivities. Look for us in 2007!
I also conduct several fishing seminars each year at Bass Pro Shops around the country. When I’m not speaking with kids you can find me guiding clients on beautiful Table Rock Lake in Missouri, where I have been fishing for over 30 years.
Although I LOVE fishing, my true passion is speaking with kids and sharing with them the excitement that fishing can bring to their lives. Because of my love for this sport and for kids everywhere, I have been asked by Bass Edge to be a part of their television show.
Throughout the season I will be sharing tips and advice on a segment of the show called Kids K.A.S.T.. My goal during these segments is for you to gain knowledge that will help you have a more enjoyable day on the water and improve your ability to catch fish in varying conditions. There will be many subjects throughout the season, ranging from tackle and fishing tips to safety tips that could prove valuable to any fisherman. Although we have chosen to keep the K.A.S.T. name for the show segment, I think you will find that the methods presented throughout this season of Bass Edge’s Kid K.A.S.T. will apply to any age range of beginning or intermediate anglers.
I hope that you are as excited as I am about the upcoming Bass Edge season. I think that you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the unique approach of the show. Whether you are a beginning, intermediate, or even professional fisherman like myself, Bass Edge will have something for everyone.
